Kathmandu — Prime Minister Sushila Karki has stated that attracting foreign investment into productive sectors and mobilizing the capital of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) in a secure and transparent manner is a top government priority. She further noted that the government’s policy includes creating a long-term investment structure for this purpose.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 12th NRNA International General Assembly and World Conference in Kathmandu today, PM Karki praised the contributions of Nepalis spread across the globe, describing them as “goodwill ambassadors” for Nepal.
She called upon Non-Resident Nepalis to actively participate in the journey toward Nepal’s development and prosperity, emphasizing the need to utilize the knowledge, skills, experience, and capital acquired abroad for the betterment of their motherland.
Prime Minister Karki also highlighted the positive outcome of the recent General Assembly, noting that the internal divisions within the organization have ended, resulting in unity on a single platform. She expressed her belief that shared sentiments among Nepalis worldwide can only be strengthened through unity and collaboration.
Referring to the Constitution of Nepal, which provides NRN citizenship with economic, social, and cultural rights, the Prime Minister stated that this provision has further solidified the bond between the diaspora and their homeland.
Wishing a successful tenure to the newly elected President, Dr. Hem Raj Sharma, and the new executive committee, she remarked that the contribution of NRNs is vital not only for economic growth but also for building social capital.
PM Karki concluded by stating that the cooperation, investment, knowledge, and innovation of all Nepalis—both at home and abroad—are essential to transform Nepal into a prosperous nation filled with opportunities. She expressed confidence that the unity and commitment shown during this assembly would provide a new roadmap for Nepal’s development.
